Only a few fragments of the original structure remain at this site—the core of a Byzantine tower incorporated into the Umayyad structure and some gateposts of the entrances. To get some impression of the remains, more can be gained from a visit to the National Museum in Damascus, where the reconstructed great gateway and many decorative features of the interior have been installed and make an impressive display.
أجزاء قليلة من الزخارف التي تعود للمبنى الأصلي وبعض الأجزاء من بوابات المدخل هي التي بقيت في الموقع الذي كان برجاً بيزنطياً تم دمجه مع منشآت القصر الذي بني في العصر الأموي. ولمعرفة أهمية هذه البقايا ومدى الانطباع الذي تتركه في النفس يمكن زيارة المتحف الوطني في دمشق حيث أعيد بناء واجهة قصر الحير مع البهو الرئيسي باستخدام تلك الزخارف بشكل رائع.
